水落在巖石上的習(xí)作

This is a very uncharacteristic exercise, using the pencil to create tonal contrasts, a technique suggested by the difficulty of depicting moving water by outline alone. Turner was to develop his technical response to moving water in a number of studies and finished watercolours stemming from his Welsh tour of 1795.
